Established in 2014 we are a very small company that buys coffee from the UCA Miraflor Co-op www.ucamiraflor.org just outside Sheffield’s twin city of Estelí in Nicaragua. We always pay well above the fair-trade minimum for organic coffee and sell our quality coffee at a fair price. We are happy to donate coffee to fundraising events run by charities or community groups. But this isn’t just a fairly traded, fairly priced coffee from Sheffield’s twin city. This is a single origin, shade grown at altitude, bird friendly, hand-picked and processed arabica, organically grown on a nature reserve where the farmers take pride in the sustainability of the estate using practices that respect their environment. Our speciality coffee has a SCA score of 86; the dark roast is full bodied, fruity, chocolatey, with hints of caramel flavour and a rich inviting aroma. The light roast is beautifully bright, with quinic and citric acid flavours and works wonderfully in a cafetiere or other filter method. The coffee complies with quality standards and international fair-trade certifications. We cannot register the coffee as organic in the UK as the roasting machines we use are also used for non-organic coffee.
